Damage Caused By Storm Ciara

Storm Ciara hit the UK on 8th February 2020 causing devastating effects to parts of the UK. An Amber wind weather warning was issued as winds hit a monstrous 97mph. This caused disruption to many towns as trees fell, roof tiles blown away, debris blocked roads and train lines were closed. Many businesses have been forced to close and damage to properties has been immense.

Cost Of Storm Ciara

The Storm Ciara clean-up has begun and has been estimated to cost insurance companies around £225m for business as usual to resume. There have been reports of leaks, cracks, missing tiles and roof breakages along with loss of power and aerial damages. Although insurance companies will cover the cost to main properties many will not cover for damage to fences, gates, hedges, satellite dishes or television aerials. These types of repairs will have to be carried out by the homeowner or a third-party tradesman contacted by the homeowner.
